Love that Redeems

John 4:27-42

The love of God is a redemptive love. This love is seen in no greater way than here in John 4. This woman’s story reminds us that the love of Christ will meet us where we are, forgive us no matter how far we have fallen, heal us  in the deepest darkest places in our lives, restore what has been taken, and restore us before men. Let the redemptive love of Christ give us new life today!

27 And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why are You talking with her?”28 The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, 29 “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” 30 Then they went out of the city and came to Him.31 In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.”33 Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?”34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. 35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! 36 And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.” 40 So when the Samaritans had come to Him, they urged Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. 41 And many more believed because of His own word.42 Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ,[a] the Savior of the world.”

This weeks share the love moment is found in verse 35: 35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest.

Receiving the Love of God causes us to restructure our lives immediately. True love is consuming and causes us to let go of all of the things we once held onto, and that allows us to live free. Receive the Freedom that true love brings and you will experience deliverance.

John 4:27-30   27 And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why are You talking with her?” 28 The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, 29 “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” 30 Then they went out of the city and came to Him.

John 8:36   36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Receiving the Love of God causes our eyes to be open to the will of God. When the will of God is revealed we can make great strides in the life He has given to us. We must give up living for ourselves and when we do, it causes us to stop focusing on our faults and live in our testimony.

John 4:31-38 31 In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.”33 Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?”34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. 37 For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”

John 8:31 31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.

When you receive the Love of God you make room for Him to stay and not just pass thru your life.  When He is allowed to stay, He can heal, build up, renew and BREAKTHROUGH, Don’t just meet Him or hear His words, make room for Him to come in and dwell and love you for who you are.

John 4:39-42 39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.” 40 So when the Samaritans had come to Him, they urged Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. 41 And many more believed because of His own word.42 Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ,[a] the Savior of the world.”

Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”[a]

1 John 4:19 We love Him[a] because He first loved us.

What was the difference between the Disciples attitude and the woman’s attitude in receiving what Christ was doing?

What is our attitude like when Christ calls us to reach those that are out of our comfort zone?

Do you LOVE selfishly or unconditionally?
